A temple, called Bamboo Temple, outside Kunming in China. The sounds of the monks chanting was not real, but from a shop nearby selling tourist crap. The monks you can see were re-arranging the bonsai trees around their temple

Yellow Fever – to the beat of Poker Face

Posted by admin on Aug 25, 2010 in Uncategorized

bonsai trees

Yellow Fever – I wrote this song for my wife, who’s Korean. I wrote her another song called “I Wanna Turn You On” and rather than appreciating the song I wrote for her decided to complain that it could apply to any woman and was not specific enough to her. Thus “Yellow Fever” was born and every line of it rings true. Lyrics are below if you’re curious. Yellow Fever I wanna a woman that’s no taller than five three I wanna sit with her while we drink green tea Later we will go and we will trim our bonsai trees Then we’ll do some math cause she’s a grad from MIT Big round eye But I’m still her guy I love my Asian bride Yea I got yellow fever After kung fu class we go to watch Bruce Lee Then a little sushi with a side of wasabi Something smells like shit in here but I am not worried Cause when you hang with Asians you find out it’s just kimchi Big round eye But I’m still her guy I love my Asian bride Yea I got yellow fever Now every night I go to sing karaoke And I have to wash the rice just so it’s not dirty Careful not to lose a grain because it’s unlucky Then I’ll get some sideways love don’t ask me what it means Big round eye But I’m still her guy I love my Asian bride Yea I got yellow fever

Planting Bare-Root Trees

Posted by admin on Aug 24, 2010 in Uncategorized

bonsai trees

Late November and December are the best months for planting bare-root trees into the garden. These are trees that are field grown and lifted in the autumn when the leaves fall off; which this year is a little later than normal. The reason its good to plant now is because the soil is moist, but still reasonably warm which means that a newly planted tree will start to make root growth as soon as it is planted.
